Hey everybody, Tay here. In case you haven’t heard, fans of Christine Love’s Hate Plus (Steam Link) have produced a mod to change one of the game’s endings. l4rm, the group responsible for the mod, has produced substantial new content for Mute’s route. I’m going to spare you spoilers (hint: go play the game!), but once you’ve finished it, take a look at the group’s blog. Channeling deep Final Fantasy 7 lore references, the group boldly claims that,
“Instead of sitting on our thumbs for some false hope of a secret update, we are taking action.”
The mod can be found on the group’s blog.

Without spoiling anything, why did they change this one ending in question? Is it because it sucked so bad they took a page out of Mass Effect 3 and decided it was so broken it needed a “fix?”
No spoilers makes it hard. Yes, the plot of the route in question was difficult for people to swallow for lots of reasons. It’s not that it was “broken”, but rather that people wanted a different ending.
Play the game! It’s great!
The original ending didn’t suck, I personally liked it a lot. This is just an alternative that some (many?) fans wanted.
Btw, unless you’ve played the game and finished Mute’s route, don’t go to their blog. Because spoilers. Hell, the name of the team itself is kind of a spoiler.
