This week’s header image comes from Fashioning Little Miss Lonesome, which is releasing on September 8th. Note that we do have one release this week, Marina’s Cuckolding Report, but it’s 18+ with few useable art assets for our banner.
VNTS (Visual Novel Translation Status Updates Series) is published each Saturday and brings the latest updates from VN translation projects — both licensed and by fans — from around the net. If you find any errors, or you think a project is missing from this list, please let us know in the comments.

Zakabox™ 「Hot take: both of the big two lost Otakon. MG had nothing particularly exciting, and SP countered by just having plain nothing. After Kindred Spirits, I just can’t get hype for a sonohana, even if it turns out to be less sex-focused than their shorter titles as some people have told me. And Rance never interested me. Come to think of it, AX was disappointing too. Was I spoiled the last few years? Are my tastes merely too specific and elitist? Does it matter anyway, when the last VN I read was 私の黒猫? Who knows.
Cold take, smoldering with fury: one thing deccy and tay didn’t pick up was the Shining Song Starnova Kickstarter. I tried the demo on a whim a while ago, and was appalled. Starnova could have been, if not good exactly, a decent enough timewaster. Instead, they decided to write an EVN in weeb.
The KS, which I shall not link to, seems to already be halfway funded or something. Frankly, it depresses me. Please do not support this kind of behaviour.
In brighter news, do try out the demo for Fashioning Little Miss Lonesome. I haven’t gotten around to it yet, but my friends (including Decay) are enjoying it and it seems to have cross-gender appeal.」
Kanojo to Ore to Koibito to seems to be going smooth again, i’m glad sucks though that the previous TL was scrapped haha
Actually, the original TL was done using alterations from machine TL so it’s better that the translation was reset.
A pretty bad con with the least amount of interesting announcements for a big convention in quite a while. And not a single announcement from Sekai, huh. I wonder if there was at least anything worthwhile mentioned at their panel. Has anyone seen it?
Sekai Project did announce that they would translate the Fata Morgana manga, with Volume 1 coming October apparently.
I think Sekai have announced enough. They still have quite a few works to translate yet.
Dekiru Translations on Lovely x Cation now?
Thank fuck, i lost faith in ElevatorTL so this is good News.
Their site seems to down too http://www.elevatortl.net/
Rance getting translated?! Woot! P.S. The links to the official site of Rance Quest Magnum and Sengoku Rance are reversed
so the Fashioning Miss Lonesome demo,
someone please tell me is common the feeling of reading a joke and you kinda can tell there wasn’t the original joke the game was making and something that was added to it,
while it isn’t bad, it breaks a bit of the fun or immersion or whatever of the that bit to me, but overall it’s pretty funny i hope the spicy stuff is also good
it’s kinda funny how the mc is a tall girl that is feared by her height and she’s the same height as me ;w;
The translation is actually quite faithful overall. The Japanese version’s humor was pretty absurd and out-there, and the English translation does an excellent job of bringing that across into English. The content of most of the jokes seems largely intact, but there’s a decent bit of english slang and colloquialisms that might be throwing you off.
Rance Quest!!!! I didn’t think they would take three titles from AliceSoft in same time but I don’t think they will release them on the same day but I hope to see one for christmas 😉
Althought, I wonder why they have picked Sengoku…Someone know?
I also hope Funbag Fantasy for mid september, when the official date will come, I will read a seconde time the first one, having a fresh prequel in the head <3
But If MangaGamers can have fix release date for each Circle, It would be awesome.
I have played and finished the seconde game of Lunasoft (in jap), It was really good so it's good news that they take their last release.
Last year’s Otakon had more of a surprise factor and had more variety, but this year is still great if you’re a Rance or Sono Hana fan. Moreso for the former with 2 massive Rance game announcements [one is already fan TL’d but the other has been (over)hyped for years]. For Sono Hana fans, Maidens of Michael being announced means that the Yurin Yurin games are licensable now. Well, no one wants the nurse games, but Shirayuki no Kishi is very possible if Maidens of Michael does well.
I expected them to announce an otome game to go along with the BL game announcement, but unless you really like Hadaka, this year’s BL announcement is better than last year’s by virtue of not being a previously fan translated VN.
Anyone want Supipara? Well, I care enough to at least mention it. The goals have been set for the remaining chapters ($150k opposed to being 100k). Trinoline is being included and seems interesting, so perhaps it can reach the end goal of 650k.
Lastly, it’s nice to see MG diversifying its gameplay title selection by getting a Lunasoft game. I haven’t heard good things about Lunasoft, but if it’s better than Orc Castle and about the proce of a Softhouse Seal game, I’ll consider at least.
Not sure how the fan translation statuses are meant to stay up to date when fuwa forums are the mainstay for some of us to post updates 🙁
I mean, you can pm me or decay on discord if you want 😛
Normally I don’t mind weeb TLs here and there if it’s something like “onii-chan” or “itadakimasu,” but that was a little much. Oh well, guess I won’t be reading Starnova at all.
It’s not just that. It’s not translated from anything. It was written like that in English.
Wait but isn’t that the point of Starnova as a whole. It’s an english visual novel that makes fun of one Japan’s more popular (and wholly Japanese) concepts. The entire thing read like it was making fun or picking apart as many aspects of the idol concept that it could. The scene in question you claim was not a parody scene but it definitely was…considering the idols seem more upset initially about not being able to pass out all the fliers. I believe it is also primarily Natsuki who uses that particular phrase.
That said however the demo was cringe worthy as can be and unedited seriously they spelled the word get as git and as far as I could tell they were neither speaking about coding nor in British(?).
I’m not fond of idols and know hardly anything about that particular industry so the game didn’t really appeal to me on the offset. The game itself wasn’t nearly as horrible as you implied it to be. It’s not great but it’s also not the worst shit I’ve read.
I do believe however that you are not linking the kickstarter due to your own bias towards the game is far worse than anything that game has done. You also say do not support this kind of behavior but fail to elaborate on what the behavior itself is…if it’s the fact that they make a ton via patreon and then decided to still do a kickstarter…then yeah I can totally see why we should not support it.
I do not support the behaviour of writing EVNs in weeb. I don’t have a problem with it parodying idol tropes (that does seem to be the point), but if it’s also trying to parody bad translations, it’s doing a pretty poor job it by just looking exactly like them.
By saying it was not a parody scene, I wanted to convey that the scene’s writing style wasn’t a temporary thing done for humor, but consistently present. I don’t think I have that one wrong.
Also: It was either not link to the Starnova KS or not mention it at all for me. Just the fact that some bugger is probably going to google it up himself and pledge after being notified here makes me nauseous. It’s kind of like how I agree with our policy to not link machine translations.
Wait, what? o.O Okay, I guess I must’ve glossed over that EVN bit.
So one of this announcements is actually MangaGamers secret project 1#? I couldn’t see it at the table. If this is the case you guys really should give us a notice like “this announcement was secret project X, that one was unannounced project Y”.
I found this project, looks slow but alive.

Well, the last post is from pre-July. I guess the TL does have a discord… and someone kinda seems to be working on it based on the messages. Huh.
I’m gonna pledge to the Starnova KS just to spite Zaka.
May your chopsticks always break unevenly, you utter bastard.
Is the Shin Muso Koihime(2008) version still being translated I feel cheated that we got the first version of the koihime games. I would rathe have the 2008 version from Mangagame,r, but the onw we got is still fun. Glad both Rance and Funbags sold well for Mangagamer, Funbags Story was such a fun read for and the female charaters were all great, but the best girl was Emerilla for me and Lute he a fun character and a good male lead for H games. Kazuto he piss me off in the first Koihime since he seem like doormat but the Akuma Fan translations of the other Musou make seem more Badass Normal he still keep things that make him Kazuto though. So I ask again is the 2008 koihime Musou game still being worked or not. please answer and thank you.
Shin Koihime Musou is indeed still being worked on, as far as we’re aware. There were some minor updates about it (mostly of the “we’re not dead” confirmation variety) on the fuwanovel forums, but those are still rip.
I have assisted on some technical issues on Shin Koihime Musou and can say it’s very much alive. Since I haven’t officially joined the project I won’t make any real public announcements about it. All I will say is that there is a very good reason why it appears to be low on activity on the outside while lots of work is done internally. All I want to say with this comment is to kill the “fake news” about the translation being dead.
Hi, I have an error with fuwanovel forum site, error 500, someone know how to fix it? thanks
The problem is on our end, not yours. We’re trying to fix it, but it’s taking a while. All you can do is wait, unfortunately.
when is eden of grisaia coming out? they said it would this summer.
also, whats up with the forums? I cant connect to the forum.
Forums have been down for 2 weeks. Eden is out for all-ages. 18+ patch is still coming in the fall
I decided to made my VNTS Review for this as well, so enjoy

By the way, I think last year Otakon was more interesting compared to this year although perhaps I was expected a bit too much from Mangagamer this year. Oh, for now I would gonna keep my interest for both of Rance Quest and Sono Hanabira 11.
