On May 30th, 2023, Shiravune announced an HD remaster of the Kara no Shoujo trilogy, with each entry getting its own separate release; the first part is titled The Shell Part I: Inferno.
Kara No Shoujo, developed by Innocent Grey, is a renowned murder mystery visual novel initially released on July 25th, 2008. The story takes place in 1950s Tokyo, and revolves around detective Tokisaka Reiji when he accepts an assignment from a strange girl in Inokashira park.
The month it was released, Kara no Shoujo ranked sixth in national PC game pre-orders in Japan and would receive a sequel on February 8th, 2013. It currently has a Very Positive review on Steam.
These releases will serve as the definitive editions of all three VNs – including the extended prologues for KnS 1 & 2. It’s also being based off the HD editions of KnS 1 & 2 that had been released in Japan in 2020.
English speaking readers will be happy to hear that there’s a dedicated localizer and translator for these releases. KnS 3, aka The Last Episode, which was released December 25th of 2020, will also finally receive an official localization.
Mind you, all 3 released will be translated from scratch, rather than using the original Mangagamer translation for KnS 1 &2.
Furthermore, the trilogy will be fully voiced and Shiravune has announced the voice actors for a few of the characters:
