Last January 15th, Nekonyan announced that the upcoming release of Tenshi☆Souzou RE-BOOT! (titled Angelic☆Chaos RE-BOOT! in English) would be indefinitely delayed following a Steam delisting. They intend to establish communication with the storefront to appeal the decision and relist the highly-anticipated Yuzusoft title.
In 2023, HIKARI FIELD and NekoNyan announced a newly licensed title from one of the most famous visual novel companies, Yuzusoft. After a gap of almost four years from their last work, Yuzusoft announced the release of a new title: Tenshi☆Souzou RE-BOOT!. HIKARI FIELD and NekoNyan worked fast to acquire the license to localize the visual novel for an international release featuring options for English, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese. Titled Angelic☆Chaos RE-BOOT!, the visual novel was available to wishlist on Steam until it was delisted this month.
About the Game
Tenshi☆Souzou RE-BOOT! is Yuzusoft’s latest visual novel title. The game released on April 28th 2023, almost four years after their last title Café Stella to Shinigami no Chou in 2019. Yuzusoft announced the project on April 27th 2022 during their official livestream. Later, they announced in their official Discord server and social media accounts alongside the Senren * Banka Nintendo Switch port.
On December 9th 2022, Yuzusoft revealed Tenshi☆Souzou RE-BOOT! for the first time. On March 25th 2023, the game released its Trial version. Fast forward to April 28th 2023, the game became available to purchase for digital download alongside physical Premium and Regular releases.
Not long after it’s release, NekoNyan and HIKARI FIELD announced on the same day that Tenshi☆Souzou RE-BOOT! will be getting a translation into English, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese.
On December 4th 2023, NekoNyan officially unveiled the Steam page of Tenshi☆Souzou RE-BOOT!. While initially slated for a January 2024 release, the sudden delisting of the game on Steam forced Nekonyan to indefinitely postpone its launch.
Yuzusoft’s Localization History
Yuzusoft is one of the most popular visual novel developers in the industry. It originated from the doujin circle TEAM-EXODUS which was formed by former members of the Studio Mebius staff. The company was originally part of Over, but later became part of Junos Co., Ltd. Across the years, Yuzusoft has released multiple games that have received lots of reviews from different communities and social media accounts.
Yuzusoft’s staff members are well-known in the community. Famishin, the director and composer, and artists Kobuichi and Muririn are constant names on every Yuzusoft game released. Angel Note is their composer for virtually every title while Amamiya Ritsu has consistently served as their scenario writer. Rodo handles their OP movies and has directed for a number of their games as well.
Releases
Yuzusoft’s first game was Bra-Ban! in 2006. Following that was ExE (2007), Natsuzora Kanata (2008), Tenshin Ranman Lucky or Unlucky!? (2009), and Noble ☆ Works (2010). Those 5 titles were collectively released in celebration of the company’s 15th anniversary. It was known as the Yuzusoft PENTA Box, released on December 24th 2021.
Their later titles DRACU-RIOT! (2012), Amairo * Islenauts (2013), Sanoba Witch (2015), Senren * Banka (2016), and RIDDLE JOKER (2018) got lots of attention from different communities, but they weren’t available in English until recently. This came with Sekai Project’s announcement of the localization of three Yuzusoft titles: DRACU-RIOT, Tenshin Ranman Lucky or Unlucky?!, and Senren Banka.
Nekonyan Enters the Scene
Shortly after, another localizer, NekoNyan, reached out to Yuzusoft to license and translate their games for an international release. After a period of time, NekoNyan managed to release their first Yuzusoft title, which was Sanoba Witch.
Sanoba Witch‘s English translation got a lot of attention on the internet. Its release on October 26th 2018 propelled both Yuzusoft and NekoNyan into popularity in the greater community. With hopes for more localized Yuzusoft titles, Nekonyan announced Senren * Banka which was released on February 14th 2020, and RIDDLE JOKER released December 18th of the same year. NekoNyan has also announced their acquisition of DRACU-RIOT, which will be ported to KiriKiri by Wamsoft with HD assets. DRACU-RIOT will also have a Nintendo Switch port; currently it’s waiting for a QA Build.
Yuzusoft’s recent title Café Stella to Shinigami no Chou (2019) got a lot of attention as well. Localized by Nekonyan, it released in English last March 25th 2022. With the upcoming launch of Tenshi☆Souzou RE-BOOT! as well, NekoNyan’s managed to release most of Yuzusoft’s newer titles in English.
Yuzusoft SOUR: A New Look
Yuzusoft has their own imprint brand, Yuzusoft SOUR, that produces all-ages visual novels. Their first title is PARQUET (2021), a short-length title. PARQUET has been translated by NekoNyan and is available on PC, iOS, and Android. Their second title is an all-ages remake version of Tenshin Ranman Lucky or Unlucky!?, featuring an updated UI, new characters, features from recent title such as flowcharts, sprite view, and favorite voice lines, an additional scenario, and a new route. Titled Tenshin Ranman Happy GO Lucky, it’s a port of the Playstation Portable version (2010) to PC. Currently, the game has not been picked up for translation.
Amairo * Islenauts is the only recent Yuzusoft title that hasn’t been translated yet. Fans are hoping the game will eventually get a translation, as well as the five older titles (although Noble Works has a FanTL).
Story
It began as a day just like any other.
A dull morning, an uneventful trip to school, an afternoon of tedious lectures…
And then I met her.“I’m an angel, sent here from Heaven on a very important mission.”
She appeared suddenly, and without warning―a beautiful girl who called herself an angel.
Spreading her large, snow-white wings, she made a declaration that would forever change my life.“I come in search of the Demon Lord’s reincarnation.”
“That being you, Tanikaze Riku.”That’s right, apparently I was a Demon Lord in my previous life. From some other world to boot.
Unfortunately for me, the anarchy wouldn’t stop there.
Memories from a previous life, visitors from another world… It was just one crazy, chaotic event after the other.“Wait, what? But that doesn’t― Huh?!”
Thus began the story of Tanikaze Riku, a tale marked by the loss of his normal life, along with so many other precious things.
VNDB
Aside from even more anarchy, what else does the future have in store for him?
