Locale Emulator — Run Japanese VNs without changing Windows locale

Have you wanted to run Japanese visual novels without changing Windows language settings? It’s easy to do with Locale Emulator!
If you used them in the past, NTLEA and AppLocale are no longer supported, so it’s a great alternative.

Core written by Amano from sumisora.
Developed for Windows 7/8 (XP is not supported), works well with UAC enabled/disabled, better stability/compatibility compared to AppLocale and NTLEA..
Source: https://github.com/xupefei/Locale-Emulator
Core: https://github.com/AsunaYuuki/Asuna/…ocaleEmulator2
Issues: https://github.com/xupefei/Locale-Emulator/issues
Compiled binary
https://github.com/xupefei/Locale-Emulator/releases/download/v2.5.0.1/Locale.Emulator.2.5.0.1.zip
Current version is v2.5.0.1
Installation
1. Unzip
2. Run LEInstaller.exe and click Install
3. Right-click context menu to run your VN executable in a different locale
You can also run it from the command-line with LEProc.exe

Thx to mchubby for mentioning this to me.

This might be perfect for my needs, because the thing that annoys me about using Japanese locale is that some software I install will use Japanese characters, making it difficult for me to go through the installation process. I also use an English purchased Intuous 4 Pen Tablet and it uses Japanese.

If this software lets me keep my locale to English while circumventing the Japanese locale restriction for games, this is perfect for me.

Wow… this works perfectly! I had to set the system locale to Japanese to play Witch’s garden, because it crashes with AppLocale at some point, where the Live2D stuff starts, but now it works just like it should. Thanks for posting this! I think I’ll uninstall AppLocale.

By the way, how can you make this thing work with the apps, like always starting up with the shortcut you placed on the desktop? Because it’s a bit bad that I have to right-click and then select the stuff…

how do you download/install this?

AV picks up a virus!

It picks a so-called virus because this tool intercepts specific calls in a program’s memoryspace. Such techniques, known as dll injection are often flagged as suspicious because it’s akin to what some keygens or trojan would do.
If you look at the details of what’s detected, it should show up with a behavioral signature. The author puts it so:

Bitdefender picks it up as “Gen:Trojan.Heur.Hype.ci4@amh42@f” so the identification is based on heuristics and not a known signature.

This said, after installing, right click on exe or shortcut and select the appropriate menu entry.

but where is direct link to dl it has multiple files on github?

There is no Installer.exe There is only Installer.csproj, which is completely worthless. I do not have a program that can run that file extension, and I have never found one that can. Rather amusingly, if you type in .csproj on google, one of the main help sites that shows up says they don’t know any that can run it either.

You do not need the source code to run a program.
Use the compiled binaries link, that will lead you to an archive such as “Locale Emulator.1.0.7.1.zip”

Czechoslovakia, the USSR, and Yugoslavia imploded upon
becoming democratic, having survived intact for more than half a century
as tyrannies. And in the other side, the “traditionalists” are often referring to mystical Sufi
tradition and focusing on self purification (Howell, 2001).
and it is fundamentally secular and has nothing to
do with ideology and spiritual meaning of life.

Along with almost everything that seems to be developing within this
particular subject matter, your points of view are generally
somewhat exciting. Having said that, I beg your pardon, but I can not subscribe to your entire plan, all be it exhilarating none the
less. It looks to everyone that your commentary are actually not completely
rationalized and in reality you are your self not even wholly convinced of
the point. In any event I did appreciate examining it.

I do love the manner in which you have presented this

Howdy just wanted to give you a brief heads up and let you know a few of the pictures aren’t loading correctly.
I’m not sure why but I think its a linking issue.
I’ve tried it in two different internet browsers and both show the same outcome.

Howdy this is somewhat of off topic but I was wanting to know if
blogs use WYSIWYG editors or if you have to manually
code with HTML. I’m starting a blog soon but have no coding
experience so I wanted to get advice from someone with experience.

Any help would be enormously appreciated!

Can you add a Blackberry template? This web page is tricky to read otherwise for those of us browsing with cell phones. Otherwise, in the event you can place a RSS link up, that would be good also. faddadfggbbg

It appears like some of the written text within your posts are running off the screen. Can someone else please comment and let me know if this is happening to them
too? This might be a issue with my internet browser because I’ve had this happen before.

Nice blog! Is your theme custom made or did you download it from somewhere?
A design like yours with a few simple tweeks would really make my blog stand out.
Please let me know where you got your theme.
With thanks
