VN Translation Status (12/10/2014)

I blame my VNTS formatting program being on time this week. c is moe.

This is more or less a copy of a post the user VNTS does on 4chan’s /jp/ board weekly, with some edits, potential additional entries and such. Entries in green have progressed since last week; this week, we saw progress on 21 projects. Oh, and Sekai Project picked up Grisaia, but who cares about that kind of small-time title anyway?

Killer Queen’s pre-patched version is in testing right now. Been interesting to see the translator’s rather negative feelings about it and all, though I never did read the reviews they advise you to. Ah well. I’d link it, but I’m in bed with my faptop and half-asleep…

Yes, the Grisaia thing was a joke.

Writer of irreverent VNTS commentaries, shadowy Fuwanovel string puller, Swedish, ambivalent toward meatballs. Brave Fuwanovel Skype Group memeber (rip), technically a reviewer, chronic everything staller. I am all these things and more, but mostly I'm really lazy. Loves yuri, reading, chocolate, and quality sugar-free colas. Hates VNs with too many choices and long walks on the beach.

For White Album 2, what does a “rough patch” entitle? Just bad english or something?

Very bad english. It was an open wiki project and they received a lot of bad submissions from people using machine translation and also non-native english speakers who wrote very poorly. It’s a really bad translation both for accuracy and readability.

Setsuna: “In that time, the wind was still warm… That’s why I could hear clearly the overlapping sound made by Haruki-kun and Touma-san …The sound played by you two was really comfortable, when I realized it I thought that I was in the karaoke box and began to sing.”
Kazusa: ”Why do I think that it’s not a praising words at all”
Setsuna: ”When I realized it, our relation become shaken. Then the circumstances after that is just like how Touma-san knows”
There. An example from an actual script, the first part of 1009 030. I made other parts more readable (all scripts that start with 1008), but I can’t guarantee their translations or anything.

Hey guys! I don’t know if any of the translators ever read things here but I just want to thank every one of you for the honest and hard work you put into bringing these games to the west. I practice my kanji every day in hopes that I can someday read these games on my own, but your continued efforts allow me and my fellow readers enjoy these games regardless. Your hard work also inspires me to continue practising and learning, because if you can take the time out of your busy lives to do this for nothing in return, I can take the spare time I have to teach myself, and maybe, just maybe give back in the future. I thank you all again for everything you do, and wish you good luck and smooth releases in the future!
