Steam Visual Novel Fest celebrates the spirit of telling a story through art and interactive fiction with discounts and demos on current and upcoming visual novel games of all kinds.
Steam’s official Visual Novel Fest will be running from August 7th to August 14th. This event won’t just highlight discounts on full VNs, but also on demos too! Hopefully this will be a reoccurring event that will cement itself as an opportunity for developers to release and show off a demo or full product.
Steam’s official Visual Novel Fest trailer gives a glimpse of the VNs you can find on sale; all of which can be found in the video description box.
Their qualifications to be considered a ‘Visual Novel’ might be questionable to some, as games like Telltale’s The Walking Dead or the Ace Attorney series are highlighted in the trailer. This could be explained by the official qualifications.
- Text-based content with front-and-center visuals accompanying the storytelling
- Choices must be made by the player to advance the story
Irrespective of how one feels about what Steam considers a VN, it should be thrilling for readers and developers, especially indie VN devs, to have dedicated event on an acclaimed platform like Steam.
Notably absent from this Steam– Full Metal Daemon Muramasa… Not exactly sure why it was blocked, there’s notably worse games out there. https://noisypixel.net/full-metal-daemon-muramasa-denied-steam-available-on-gog/
